As a proud member of the better business bureau, Smart Auto Transport is committed to giving great service at an affordable price. We are aware of how important your vehicle is to your daily routine, and we strive to transport your precious possession in the most reliable and timely manner. Our great staff of customer service representatives are here to answer any questions that you may have in order to make your transport experience a pleasant one.

Can I pack items in my trunk?

Federal and state Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit the transport of personal goods in vehicles being transported by auto carriers. Smart Auto Transport and carrier truck drivers can not assume responsibility for these items and they are not covered by the transporter's insurance.

How is my car transported?

Our transport process is very hassle free. On the scheduled day for your vehicle pickup, the carrier truck will come to your door to pick it up. Once your vehicle is carefully loaded on the carrier, an experienced driver will transport it and several other vehicles to their destinations. Along the way, vehicles will be loaded and off-loaded at their various destinations. At your destination, your vehicle will be carefully off-loaded at your door. At that time we ask that you, or your designated representative, inspect the vehicle, sign the bill of lading and accept delivery. The process is simple, safe, and hassle free.

What should a consumer do if their vehicle arrives with damage?

First thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading. The damage should clearly be marked and noted, then signed for by the driver. Upon completion of delivery a call should placed to your carrier or broker to inform them of the damage. In most cases the carrier will ask for an estimate and send you payment in a couple weeks. If the carrier is not responsive and unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue make sure you contact their insurance company and make a claim. Be sure however you have all the documentation to back up your claim - false claims can result in legal action by the carrier or agent.

What is the pickup window?

Our pickup window is 1 to 8 business days. This means that we will need 1 to 8 business days starting from your first available date to schedule your transport with a reputable, fully-insured carrier. Once your vehicle is scheduled a representative will contact you with the exact date of pickup along with the driver's name and phone number.

Will my vehicle be insured during transport?

Your vehicle will be insured against in transit damage (not weather related, i.e. hail. lightining) by the transport truck that we assign. These trucks carry $750,000 to $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 to $250,000 in cargo insurance, depending on the size and type of equipment used. Any and all insurance deductible is paid by the truck driver.
